The Whisper 100 is Power rated 900 Watts at 28 mph wind speed. The Whisper 100 is Energy rated to produce on average 100 Kwh/Month.
The Whisper 100 can be used as a battery charger, or to energize a UL listed grid tie inverter. As a battery charger the Whisper 100 includes a voltage regulator that can also work as a load diversion controller.
As a Grid Tie system, the Whisper 100 energizes a SMA WindyBoy Inverter that push this electricity through your meter (turning it backward) and into the electrical grid.
The Whisper 100 is selected for windy sites. If you site is less than windy (subjective determination), use an anemometer to measure wind speed for accurate readings, then select a Whisper 200 rated at 1,000 watts.
Used as a battery charger, the Whisper 100 Small Wind Turbine is mounted on Masts. These masts, or towers, are a key element to siting a Whisper 100. The higher the tower the faster the wind. As the power in wind increases as the cube of the wind speed (double wind speed, power increases by 8x) the higher the better. All propeller type wind generators seek and work best in smooth (laminar) wind.
Obstacles on the ground create "ground effects" and turbulence. For propeller type wind generators this is an issue. Raise your towers, both Monopole, and Guy Wired, as high as your site and conditions allow.
The Whisper 100 with its 7 foot rotor diameter and swept area of over 40 feet is rugged for extreme environments. The 3 blade design is used for added stability in turbulent and gusty wind conditions.
