Booster pumps can be damaged by dirty or rusty water, so filters and and a dry run switch are highly recommended, and included in systems. Booster Pumps must never run dry, this is also a hazard for the pump. The dry run switch senses this condition and shuts the pump down.
Booster pumps usuall come in DC and AC versions, electrical input, and provide a very good way to bring water from a distant surface source as a prelude to further water treatment such as UV water sterilization.
